Permit Coordination
Basswood Consulting is the consulting and project management division of Basswood Inc., at 1413 Basswood Lake Road, Huron Shores, Ontario P0R 1L0. We help with land consulting and project management across Algoma District, Northern Ontario. We are not the planner, the surveyor, or the engineer.
Permit coordination is organizing building permits, septic permits, and shoreline or work permits with the authorities that issue them.
Basswood Consulting gathers the pieces of the file and keeps them in one sequence. We do not issue permits. The authority that holds each permit makes that decision.
A building permit and a septic permit often move together. A shoreline or work permit may sit with a different office. We keep track of what has been sent and what is still open.
Questions
Who issues septic permits in Huron Shores?
Algoma Public Health states that it is the principal authority for Ontario Building Code permits for private on-site sewage systems across the District of Algoma, within the daily flow limit it publishes. Larger or off-lot systems are handled by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. Basswood Consulting does not issue septic permits. We organize the file with the authority that issues them.
Who issues building permits in Huron Shores?
The Municipality of Huron Shores says building services are provided through Central Algoma Building Services, which administers building permits and the Ontario Building Code for participating municipalities. We do not issue building permits.
